Basic Concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Course 2A20. Introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
DoorThis course introduces the basic concepts of TCM.  Topics include the theories of Ying and Yang energy balance, Meridian pathways, the Five Elements, Zang-Fu Organs, Tongue-Pulse diagnosis and basic concepts of point selections using TCM diagnosis.  These concepts will be explored again in greater depth in subsequent courses.

Pre-requisite: Course 1A20. Completion of course 1B20 and 1C20 are strongly recommended

Note:  This course has web-based components.  Health care professionals with dial-up connections, noncompatible computers and softwares or not familiar with internet are not encouraged to enroll in the program unless they are willing to use our computers at our site on weekdays during regular business hours or on weekends during the hours of the Level 1 courses of the following year.  Only a small number of registrants could be accommodated for using our computers.

Course 2B20. Meridian Theories
Acupuncture Man chartThe purpose of this course is to familiarize students with Meridian theories and their application's to common MSK problems. Students will be able to identify the meridian involved and with Tongue-Pulse diagnosis, develop treatment protocols.

Pre-requisite: Course 1A20, and 2A20.

Fundamental Concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Course 2C20 Tongue-Pulse diagnosis
DragonTCM diagnosis depends on the ability to collect information from examining the tongue and palpating the pulse. This course will expand on previous course material and theories on Tongue-Pulse diagnosis through slide presentations. Students will be able to further practice examining the tongue and palpating the pulse under supervision.

Pre-requisite: Course 1A20 and 2A20 unless with the permission of the instructor.

Course 2D20 Five Element Theories
This course expands on the Five Element theories. The relationships between the five elements: Metal, Wood, Water, Earth, and Fire will be explored and discussed at great depth.

Advance Concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Course 2E20. Advanced TCM for Common Musculoskeletal Problems

Bronz figureMore advanced theories of TCM will be explored such as advanced Zang-Fu concepts, etiology and pathogenesis, differentiation of syndrome, diagnostic methods and advanced treatment concepts.  At the end of the course, students will have a strong concepts using TCM to treat most common MSK problems they encountered.
