Accreditation

Upon successful completion of an entire unit with the examination, students will receive an official McMaster University Continuing Health Sciences Education Medical Acupuncture Certificate of Attendance.

McMaster University Continuing Health Sciences Education (MUCHSE) is an organization accredited to sponsor Continuing Medical Education for physicians and other health care professionals -- by both the committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools and the committee on Accreditation for Continuing Medical Education of the United States.  MUCHSE designates this educational program to meet the criteria for:

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
The credit rating(s) assigned to the education sessions at this course by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada MOCOMP program reflect the educational value of the program.

The College of Family Physicians of Canada
This program meets the accreditation criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been accredited for 20 MAINPRO-M1 credits per course.

220 MAINPRO-M1 credits hours for the entire programme of Level 1, Level 2, and special seminar.

American Medical Association PRA Category 1
McMaster University Health Sciences Continuing Education designates this educational activity for a maximum of 20 hours in category 1 credit per course towards the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award.

A maximum of 220 hours in category 1 credit for the entire programme of Level 1, Level 2, and special seminar towards the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award.

Each Physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity hours of credit courses.

Approval, Recognition or Requirements by other Agencies

Acupuncture Council of Ontario
Our entire program fulfils the requirements of the Acupuncture Council of Ontario (ACO) for the examination.  Chiropractors interested in challenging the ACO's examination should contact them about the most up-to-date requirements and information about fee and dates.

British Medical Acupuncture Society
Eligible health care professionals completed our fundamental unit may enrol in more advances courses at the British Medical Acupuncture Society,

College of Chiropractors of Ontario
Our program meets the standards as approved by council on June 22, 2007.  Please contact them for the most up-to-date requirements.

College of Massage Therapists of Ontario
Our program is approved by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.
Our Level 1 with the examination meets the minimum competencies of the CMTO.

College of Physiotherapists Therapists of Ontario
The College of Physiotherapists Therapists of Ontario has yet to issue their current position on training requirements. Our program meets the requirements approved in 1998.

Worker Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario
Our program is recognized by the worker Safety and Insurance Board for payment to acupuncture providers.
